The Weather Channel Taps Wayin Broadcast to Bring Interactivity to its Recently Debuted Morning Show, AMHQ
LAS VEGAS, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NAB Show -- Wayin, a company that is changing the way social content and media is delivered, measured and experienced, announced today that it will power social experiences on The Weather Channel Network. The Weather Channel is bringing social conversations front and center for AMHQ, a new morning show hosted by Sam Champion, formerly an anchor for Good Morning America.
The Weather Channel will leverage Wayin's powerful social technology platform to display relevant social conversations directly into daily broadcasts of its new "AMHQ" morning show which delivers weather coverage, important news, sports and pop culture headlines. Using criteria such as location, trend tracking, sentiment, influence score and associated media, producers will be able to quickly isolate and display relevant social conversations on-air, giving the audience a voice in the new program.
"This technology is helping us speed immediate images to air, " says Sam Champion, host of AMHQ. "We'll instantly identify and visualize breaking weather events across the country using tweets directly from our audience. That's exciting."
With Wayin, The Weather Channel's producers can quickly sift through viewer-submitted content and post it on air within seconds using WSI's Max technology while also using Wayin's analytic tools to identify and act upon real-time news. Additionally, The Weather Channel can now create new off-air experiences for second screen environments with curated social content.
"The Wayin Broadcast platform improves our ability to showcase social media content. We move very quickly and the product is built for real-time curation. Its ability to integrate directly into our TruVu MAX systems for us to use in conjunction with maps is an added bonus," said executive producer Pete Schwartz.
Wayin, one of a handful of Twitter-Certified Partners with premium access to Twitter's database, ensures that a broadcast station or network can identify and display various forms of Twitter data on air for its immediate production needs. These visualizations include tweets to screen, hashtag polls, mention counters, heat maps, live graphs, and more. Wayin Broadcast is tailored to fit station requirements, and enhance viewer participation and engagement.
