RALEIGH, N.C., April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Band Together is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit that raises money and awareness for nonprofits. Since 2001, the organization has raised over $3 M for 13 nonprofits in the Triangle. Every year, Band Together chooses a different nonprofit partner. This year's partners are Communities In Schools of Wake County (CIS Wake) and Communities In Schools of Durham (CIS Durham). Campaign proceeds will benefit the Graduation Coach programs in Wake County and Durham. Graduation Coaches provide individual support for students at risk of dropping out of school. Last year, CIS Wake and CIS Durham seniors served by Graduation Coaches achieved a 92% and 93% graduation rate, respectively. In 2011, a national research study ranked the CIS Graduation Coach model as the most effective program in the U.S. at both reducing the dropout rate and increasing the graduation rate.
The Band Together campaign's main event is the Hall & Oates Concert on May 3rd at Walnut Creek Amphitheater (7 pm). Applebee's contributed $15,000 toward the campaign and is supporting the effort by inviting members of the community to stop by any Applebee's location in the Triangle and register to win the VIP Experience at the Concert. The VIP Experience includes Hall & Oates Tickets for two plus food and beverages compliments of Applebee's. The Grand Prize Drawing will be on Thursday, May 1st, from 12 pm to 1 pm at the Applebee's located at 3625 Hillsborough St. in Raleigh.
"We are proud Gold Record Sponsors of this year's campaign," says Michael Olander, CEO of The Apple Gold Group, the Raleigh-based franchisee of Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar. "The work being done by Communities In Schools of Wake and Durham is essential to the success of the youth they serve and the students' futures. We are happy to support Band Together's efforts in raising funds and awareness for CIS."
"We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Applebee's," says Travis Mitchell, President, CIS Wake. "This is a fun campaign that will bring additional awareness to our cause and introduce the work of our organizations to the community."
