AFGE Council of Prison Locals President Dale Deshotel discussed the Government Accountability Office report titled, "Growing Inmate Crowding Negatively Affects Inmates, Staff, and Infrastructure," which found the Bureau of Prisons to be 39 percent over capacity with expected crowding to exceed 45 percent through 2018. Deshotel also detailed the impact of overcrowding on staff and the surrounding community.

AFGE National President J. David Cox, Save the Children Senior Vice President Mark Shriver and former Clinton White House spokesman Bob Weiner also participated in a special broadcast from the recent Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
