NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- COMEDY CENTRAL received three awards in the 2011-2012 Primetime Emmy( )Awards competition, as awarded by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS).
Multiple Emmy-winner "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," the network's unique news parody series, received its tenth consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series, the longest streak in Emmy history, and its eighth Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series. This brings the grand total of Primetime Emmys for "The Daily Show" to 18. The program is also a two-time winner of the prestigious Peabody(®) Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.
Also honored was "Futurama's" Maurice LaMarche, who earned his second consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for "The Silence of the Clamps" episode.
The Emmy Awards were presented in two ceremonies. The first, primarily for creative arts categories, took place on Saturday, September 15, while the balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts, and were announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime telecast (ABC) on Sunday, September 23. Both ceremonies took place at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, CA.
