Scholar Joseph Atwill Discovers Identity of Man Who Took Jesus From Cross
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Internationally known Bible scholar, Joseph Atwill, has made the discovery that Joseph of Arimathea, the name of the man in the Gospels who took Jesus down from the Cross, actually refers to Joseph Bar Mathias, the Aramaic name of the First Century Roman historian Josephus. In the last several weeks, three prominent scholars have agreed with his analysis. This reference to Josephus suggests that he may have been the secret author of the Gospels, working for the court of the Roman Flavian Caesars.
Atwill's discovery is presented in the new documentary, "Caesar's Messiah: The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus," and is just one of numerous parallel similarities between the Gospels and Josephus' History of the Jewish War. Other scholars have noted some of these parallel similarities before but Atwill discovered many more, and is the first to note that they all follow each other sequentially.
The documentary based on Atwill's groundbreaking work premieres at the Laemmle Music Hall Theatre, 9036 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:00pm, and will run for one week through Oct. 4(th).
The c3: Center for Conscious Creativity will end the one-week Laemmle run with their own event on Friday, October 5th(th) at 6:30pm in the high-tech Vortex Dome at Los Angeles Center Studios, 1037 West 6th Street, in downtown Los Angeles. Part of the c3's Visions from the Edge series, the event is titled "The Future of Religion", and will feature a panel of scholars from the "Caesar's Messiah" documentary: Dead Sea Scrolls expert Dr. Robert Eisenman, author Joseph Atwill, literary analyst John Hudson, mythicist Kenneth Humphreys via Skype from England, and via Skype from Australia Dr. Rod Blackhirst, who arrived at the same conclusions separately from Atwill. Film clips will be shown, and audience questions will be answered.
Sept. 28(th) also marks the date the documentary will be released worldwide on DVD/Blu-ray and a video streamer on the Caesar's Messiah website (www.caesarsmessiahdoc.com) and their Facebook page, as well as Amazon Instant Video.
