Law Rocks! Issues Open Call for Bands Fundraiser to Benefit Local Charities
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Last March, concert goers at the sold out Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles witnessed 5 bands made up of legal professionals battle it out on stage in the name of charity. In the end, Exposition Deposition, consisting of members from Venable LLP and Sheppard Mullin LLP were announced as winners and over $24,000 was donated to their charity of choice, the Painted Turtle. The other bands went home winners as well as they were all able to raise money for their designated charity.
Due to the success of that show, Law Rocks! has announced that not only is it returning to the Whisky a Go-Go but is also expanding to San Francisco.
The San Francisco event will be held at the Independent on February 21, 2013.
The show at the Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles will be held on March 1, 2013
Let the competition begin. Law Rocks! is seeking bands to join the Battle of the Bands competition. With the exception of one band member (the 'ringer'), musicians must be employed within the legal industry, its suppliers or supporting industries. Performance slots are limited. Band applications can be found online at www.lawrocks.com and can be submitted via email to info@lawrocksusa.com.
A combination of judges, audience voting and total fundraising will determine the winner.
"We are excited to bring this great event back to Los Angeles," says Law Rocks! Co-President Ted Scott. "For the musicians to be able to perform at the Whisky a Go-Go where such rock legends as The Doors, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen made their mark is amazing."
"We are honored to be able to hold our first concert in San Francisco at the Independent," adds Brandt Mori. "The whole idea behind Law Rocks! is to let the legal profession have some fun and rock out. Almost everybody dreamt of being a rock star at some point in their lives. The Independent is making that dream a reality for some if only for a short while, and all for a good cause."
