"Song For Marion is a beautiful film," commented Dion. "It's a story that everyone will relate to. I cried a lot, but I laughed a whole bunch too. I'm very proud to be a small part of it, with the song that Diane Warren wrote, and it's been great working with her again."
Starring Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave, Song For Marion is a comedic drama, about a shy, grumpy pensioner Arthur, who is reluctantly inspired by his beloved wife Marion to join a highly unconventional local choir. The Weinstein Company film also stars Gemma Arterton and Christopher Eccleston and was produced by Ken Marshall and Philip Moross. Moross, CEO of Cutting Edge (the company responsible for the film's music supervision), worked very closely with Diane Warren and Sony Music on "Unfinished Songs," the film's end-credits track.
Not only does "Unfinished Songs" bring Celine back to the world of cinema, it also reunites her with the talented Diane Warren. Warren, who has been writing songs for Celine for two decades, wrote the #1 single "Because You Loved Me," which was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and four Grammy Awards. "Because You Loved Me" won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media as well as the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year. Warren has written more than a dozen singles for Dion including the hits "If You Asked Me To," "Water From The Moon," and "Love Can Move Mountains."
In speaking with Variety Magazine Warren said, "We go way back and I think we're a good combination, particularly for this song. She had done her show from 7:30 to 9:30 that night and then recorded between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. That's why Celine is Celine -- she really has an amazing work ethic."
