Verizon FiOS1 Dallas to Air Texas High School Football Game of the Week in Metroplex

Weekly Games Complement Verizon's Innovative FiOS1 High School Sports Widget

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- If you're a Dallas-Fort Worth-area Verizon FiOS TV customer and you can't make the Friday night lights this week, don't worry. Starting Monday (Nov. 7), the company is launching Verizon FiOS1 Dallas, which will air a tape-delayed "High School Football Game of the Week" on FiOS TV Channel 1.

FiOS1 Dallas will feature tape-delayed regular season football games matching up 38 Metroplex-area teams, as well as the state playoff games from Cowboys Stadium. In addition, starting in December, FiOS1 Dallas will air live and tape-delayed boys' high school basketball games.

Schedules of featured games can be found on Verizon's Interactive Media Guide.

"Texans crave sports at all levels, and FiOS1 will help satisfy FiOS TV customers' appetite for high school athletics," said Michelle Webb, FiOS1's director of programming. "We expect FiOS1 to be a very popular destination for football and basketball fans throughout the area."

The FiOS1 "High School Football Game of the Week" complements the company's FiOS1 High School Sports Widget, which debuted in September exclusively for FiOS TV customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Through the FiOS1 High School Sports Widget, only FiOS TV is delivering on-demand high school sports news, stats, photos and video highlights of area schools.

Shawne Angelle, president of operations for Verizon's Texas region, said, "Verizon's FiOS1 'High School Football Game of the Week' and High School Sports Widget offer customers an innovative, exclusive combination that beats the competition hands down. This unique content, coupled with Verizon's support of education and athletic programs for more than 75 percent of the eligible high schools in our DFW FiOS serving area, further demonstrates our commitment to the communities we serve."

More than 500,000 households in the company's Dallas-Fort Worth FiOS service area can take advantage of FiOS1 Dallas and the FiOS1 High School Sports Widget.

FiOS1 is part of FiOS TV's broad collection of programming featuring more than 530 all-digital channels including more than 130 high-definition channels and 30,000 monthly VOD titles. FiOS TV also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social network, news, sports and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or mobile phones, Flex View; and MY FiOS, an all-in-one, easy-to-use mobile application that gives customers access to access to a variety of other applications.

To access the FiOS1 High School Sports Widget, FiOS TV customers can click on the "Widgets" button on their remote control, access high school football under "Sports" and "Featured," and then click on "FiOS1 High School Sports Widget."
