Eric Becker Named Vice President of Corporate Communications for Starz Entertainment and Starz Media

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Oct. 17, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- Eric Becker has been promoted to Vice President of Corporate Communications for Starz Entertainment and Starz Media. In this role, Becker is responsible for corporate communications for the Starz Entertainment and Starz Media businesses, including Worldwide Distribution, Starz Digital Media divisions and other holdings. He is charged with incorporating PR strategy for the various Starz business units and his responsibilities include media relations and corporate affairs.

In his previous role Becker served as Executive Director, Corporate Communications at Starz Entertainment.

Becker has added several areas of PR responsibility during his tenure at Starz, including oversight of corporate communications and media relations for Starz Digital Media in 2009, which includes digital and on-demand distribution, and new business extensions for licensed content, in addition to owned content from Starz Originals, Anchor Bay Entertainment, Overture Films and Manga Entertainment.

Becker has served on the board of directors for the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) since 2010 and as PR Chair for the Cable & Telecommunications Association of Marketing of the Rocky Mountains Board of Directors since 2006. He served on the Board for SkiTAM as Publicity Co-Chair in 2009-2010 and acts as an ongoing mentor for the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) L. Patrick Mellon and ACC Mentorship Programs.

Prior to joining Starz Entertainment in June 1999, Becker was Director, Corporate Communications for On Command Corporation, where he was responsible for investor relations and corporate communications for the leading in-room entertainment and information service provider for hotels. Prior to that, Becker was an associate at GBSM, a Denver-based communications consulting firm specializing in strategic communications, media relations and marketing.

Becker earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Northwestern University and earned his Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law.
