Number Two Helps Luvs Earn the Top Award in Consumerist.com's Second Annual Worst Ad in America With "Poop! There It Is"
Arby's, AT&T, CarFax and Esurance Among Winners in the Worst Ad in America Awards
NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 115,000 consumer votes were tallied up in Consumerist.com's second annual Worst Ad in America Awards to determine the winners in the contest's nine categories. Luvs' "Poop! There It Is" claimed the top honor of "Absolute Worst Ad in America" earning slightly more than 32% of the vote.
Luvs' "Poop! There It Is" ad features an animated baby talent show, where the only talent being judged is just how much fecal matter each of the three grunting tots can dump into their diapers. AT&T, who had two ads in the running for the top honor, came in second and forth respectively. Summer's Eve finished a distant third (17.5%) and in spite of being obnoxious, Geico's "Using Smartphones for Dumb Things" managed to earn only 12% of the votes - leaving the company in last place.
"Our advice to advertisers in the wake of the Luv's "Poop There It Is" disaster - even if the overall goal of your advertising campaign is to produce a large amount of crap, you should probably not express the idea quite so literally," said Meghann Marco, Executive Editor of Consumerist.com.
