Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle to Be Unveiled During NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway by the Rocket City Rednecks

Season Finale of National Geographic Channel's Popular Series Will Film on the Infield Among 100,000 NASCAR Fans - Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23, 2011

Multilevel Vehicle Will Include a Nitrogen-Powered Beer Cooler, Spy Satellite, Four Ingeniously Designed Grills, 10-foot Periscope, Putt-Putt Deck and Slide!

WASHINGTON, Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The critics have called it a "ridiculously fun," "rip-roarin' reality series" that is "as addictively tasty as a platter full of Southern-fried chicken." Before National Geographic Channel's popular freshman series Rocket City Rednecks wraps for the season, the cast and crew will film the final episode at Talladega Superspeedway during the creme de la creme of NASCAR races -- The Good Sam Club 500. On Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23, 2011, the Rocket City Rednecks will join 100,000 fans and unveil their "ultimate tailgating vehicle" on the infield of NASCAR's longest oval race track.

The Rocket City Rednecks are giving new meaning to the term "recreational vehicle." The over-the-top creation boasts a 10-foot submarine-style periscope, a putt-putt deck, large-screen televisions that can receive satellite TV and aerial footage of the crowd transmitted by a homemade spy satellite, a liquid-nitrogen-powered "super beer cooler" and four different ingeniously designed barbecue grills, including a car-battery-powered rotisserie and a flash cooker for marshmallows.

The series Rocket City Rednecks is led by Travis Taylor and his team of backwoods geniuses from the Rocket City: Huntsville, Ala., home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the birthplace of the U.S. space program. For the past two decades Travis has been a research scientist with the U.S. Army and NASA. Sometimes big science moves too slow for Travis, so he "gits" together with his father, brother-in-law, nephew and best friend to combine a little hillbilly ingenuity with advanced engineering and physics to tackle real-world scenarios. With their thick accents and distinctive vocabulary, the tight-knit group brings its own unique style of Southern charm to science and technology.

The episode entitled "Rocket City Rednecks: Talladega Tailgate" will air on December 7, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on the National Geographic Channel.

Infield fans in attendance are invited to the Rednecks' campsite in the Geico Green Campground, spots 810 through 812.
