ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tennis fans from around the world have made theUS Open the top-selling event on the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for the second-consecutive month. TicketsNow, a leading online resale marketplace for event tickets, tracks proprietary resale ticket sales to provide a snapshot of entertainment trends for sports, music, and theater events nationwide.

Fans from 79 different countries, including China and New Zealand, have purchased tickets to the 2011 US Open, which will be held August 29 thru September 11 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY. The annual tennis event accounted for 19% of all tickets sold on TicketsNow.com in July, and a whopping 38.2% of sports tickets sold.

Baseball dominated the remainder of the Sports category with the San Francisco Giantsnarrowly outselling the New York Yankees, The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs rounded out the top five.

In city after city,Taylor Swift continues to wow the crowds. Music fans made her the top-selling artist in July, capturing 6.3% of all concert tickets sold on TicketsNow.com. Paul McCartney, the top concert ticket in June, came in a close second with 5.7% of sales.

And in Theater, The Book of Mormoneclipsed long-standing category leader Wicked, garnering an impressive 35.2% of theater sales in July. The Tony Award-winning musical accounted for 4.6% of sales overall, second only to the US Open.
