Thousands are expected to bring their lawn chairs for a day of action packed FREE fun and food for a nominal fee. Our crowd favorite this year is sure to be the Gospel Fest Best singing competition. Ten of Detroit's brightest vocalists will square off on the Main Stage which will be draped in new luxury vehicles courtesy of Cadillac Novi. This "American Idol type" singing contest winner will receive $500 CASH and a vocal consultation with Grammy Award winning PAJAM Music. Gospel Fest Best semi-finalists have already been selected from previous auditions held at Eastland and Northland Malls.
Simultaneously, the car show will feature a variety of classic cars, hot rods and even new cars from dealers' showroom floors. The Best of Show winner will receive $250. In addition to the music and cars, there will be fabulous food, clowns, train rides, inflatables for kids, games, prizes and giveaways.
The roots of this event go back to the 1980's when the church would sell barbecue dinners as a fundraiser. Some of the deacons would bring their classic cars to the event, and it would draw crowds, and of course customers. Over the years, more aspects were added, and it evolved into an outdoor gospel fest and classic car show.
