NEW YORK, May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Crisman Films announced today that fromagerie/bistro owner and chef Jason Sobocinski of The Big Cheese will take his show on the road starting Sunday May 1 at 8.00PM on The Cooking Channel. Additional air times are May 6, @ 10:00PM and 2.00AM; May 7 @ 9.00AM, May 8 @ 5.00PM; May 11 @ 9.00PM and 1.00AM; May 15 @7.00AM; May 16 @ 8.00PM and 12.00AM.
Jason Sobocinski is part of the new wave of interest in artisanal cheeses that is sweeping the country. Each week the proposed series, The Big Cheese will feature Jason visiting some of the best cheese makers in the country and using their cheese, cook alongside celebrated chefs, bringing the cheese experience to your everyday palate.
Find out what makes each of these artisans' cheese and lifestyles so distinctive. Watch him milk a goat then turn that milk into a piquant chevre by lunchtime and enjoy it on a baguette with bacon and maple syrup or as he visits another farm and asks viewers to help name a newly produced cheese. During the course of the series Jason will trek his way across country finally ending his odyssey in Wasilla, Alaska at a farm that produces chevre and mozzarella.
Jason came to cheese through the zealous pursuit of the pleasure of eating and learning about the history of artisanal products and why we eat what we eat. His fromagerie and bistro in New Haven, Caseus, offers 100 artisanal cheeses in addition to olive oils, spices and preserves from small local producers reflecting his support of sustainability which he believes starts in the community. He has gone beyond green and extended sustainability to involve local charities, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars by preparing food for events such as Brady Smiles, The Connecticut Liver Foundation and the Common Ground School.
