Who Needs American Idol? Jessica Caylyn May Not Have a Golden Ticket, But Her Fan Base Is Skyrocketing
ANTIOCH, Calif., April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jessica Caylyn's documented fan base has grown exponentially since releasing her first original songs online two weeks ago. This 18-year-old country/pop performer and songwriter, along with her "Momager," is determined to continue building the momentum "indie style."
Without the funds for hiring a public relations firm, this Northern CA resident and her yoga-teaching mom spend many hours weekly doing what it takes to get ahead in the music business. This involves researching, networking, practicing, performing, studying, writing, driving to venues to deliver promotional packets, phone calls, updating websites, and planning their next week's goals. They are constantly finding new sources for free or low-cost music promotion and then do the work toward furthering Jessica's career as a new country artist.
Jessica's co-written song "Just Can't Help Myself" was selected as April's Song of the Month by SongwriterUniverse founder Dale Kawashima. She was honored to have someone such as Dale, with an extensive background as President of major publishing companies, a label A&R Executive, and a Music Critic/Journalist/Editor, to select this song. SongwriterUniverse.com averages 65,000 viewers monthly. The $12 it cost to enter the competition turned in to one low-cost way of getting international exposure.
Jessica's co-writer on "I Don't Mind" told thepress.net on March 11, 2011, Jessica's "unique style will be an exciting addition to the world of country music. It's very rare to find God-given talent, let alone have it appear in someone so young. She is a writer way beyond her years. She has a great melodic sense and it's easy to fall in love with the sound of her voice. She brings the goose bumps to the surface."
Jessica and her mother teamed up with independent Nashville producer Steffon Hamulak to guide Jess in co-writing with Nashville writers. Then, they hired Hamulak to select top musicians to track the songs, arrange, and complete production, with the help of his talented team. Jessica Caylyn co-wrote 3 of the 4 songs.
Caylyn was excited to have the following musicians track her songs at Ocean Way. Tom Bucovac on guitar (Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood), Boh Cooper on keys (Rascall Flatts, David Foster), Rich Redmond on drums, Tully Kennedy on bass (Jason Aldean), Jedd Hughes (Patty Loveless, Alison Krauss), Jerry McPherson (Faith Hill, Amy Grant), and Rob McNelley (Lee Ann Womack, Wynona) on guitar, plus more.
