The BBVA Compass Bowl, an ERT owned and operated event, will be played Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Birmingham's historic Legion Field and will be televised by ESPN at 11 a.m. CT.

We look forward to having the Panther fans in Birmingham with the opportunity to experience some great southern hospitality during their stay."

Pittsburgh (7-5, 5-2 BIG EAST) is lead by head coach Dave Wannstedt, in his sixth season, and finished in a three-way tie for the BIG EAST regular season championship this season. The Panthers will be playing in their 27th bowl game and will be making their third straight postseason appearance.

''We greatly appreciate the opportunity to represent the BIG EAST Conference in this year's BBVA Compass Bowl,'' said Steve Pederson, Pittsburgh Director of Athletics. ''The city of Birmingham has done an exceptional job growing this game into a great event. We look forward to some tremendous southern hospitality and the chance to square off against an SEC opponent in January.''
