Poet and rock and roll legend Jim Morrison will be remembered in poetry, song, and film on Saturday, October 16, 2010. The event will take place at The Rutledge in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

The first readings will be selected from three books of Jim Morrison's poetry, The Lords and the New Creatures, Wilderness, and The American Night. The second readings will be an open mike session for anyone who wishes to read one of Jim Morrison's published poems. Special guests will be in attendance and read some of Morrison's poems. During this segment of the evening there will be a special presentation of Jim Morrison's poems that promises to be unforgettable.

Jim Morrison's self-described childhood encounter with a deadly traffic accident will be presented in a new a short documentary film entitled, "Dawn's Highway." The documentary was filmed in New Mexico, and includes scenes from the actual site of the accident. Brad Durham produced the film and has said, "This is the most important accident in rock and roll history. It did not kill a rock star. It created one."

Chris James & The Sideshow is composed of some of Nashville's best musicians, and together they perform the musical art and poetry of The Doors. Although these musicians rarely perform in this configuration, the Lost Side Show's live performances are a special night of music dramatically unlike that of any other band in Nashville (or anywhere for that matter). Chris James is the lead vocalist.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 at www.therutledgelmv.com. Capacity is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
