'CHiPs' Star Larry Wilcox to Appear at 7th Annual 10-4 Day Benefit
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "CHiPs" star Larry Wilcox is scheduled to appear at the 7th Annual 10-4 Day benefit this October 4th in Hollywood. The event benefits the California Highway Patrol's 11-99 Foundation and its Broderick Crawford Benefits Program, along with the LAPD Museum and benefit fund.
The 11-99 Foundation was founded in 1981 to provide benefits and support to CHP employees and their families in times of need.
The day will include a ceremony at Broderick Crawford's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Crawford played CHP Chief Dan Mathews in "Highway Patrol" which ran from 1955-59) and a parade featuring local law enforcement officers, a few celebrities, and many vintage police vehicles. Wilcox says he's looking forward to the event and to seeing his fellow cast mates Erik Estrada, Robert Pine, and Paul Linke.
"These personal appearances are my way of expressing my gratitude to the policemen, firemen and FBI," he said. "I had a good time and am grateful for the police roles I've played and hope that I've given more than I have taken. I've spent 60 years putting my signature on my life, from serving my government and country in Vietnam to doing some public service now."
Wilcox, 63, has been a supporter of the CHP and the 11-99 Foundation for several decades and this year will once again ride in the parade both as a show of support and as a nostalgic nod to the show that made him famous.
"Last year I rode in the parade on the new BMWs and the old Police Kawasaki that we used on "CHiPs", he said. "The sound of the 900 cc engine brought back many memories of Ponch and Jon on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California!"
