3D Entertainment Distribution Unveils New Slate of Films for IMAX 3D Theatres
Company scheduled to release two new titles a year as of 2011
LONDON and LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- 3D Entertainment Distribution and sister company 3D Entertainment Films are pleased to announce their current slate of films in production and in development, marking their long-term commitment to providing innovative and breathtaking 3D films to IMAX theatres around the world. On the heels of this year's successful launch of "Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World," the Company is scheduled to release at least two titles per year beginning in 2011.
Included in the lineup are "Air Racers 3D: Forces of Flight" (summer 2011), "Patagonia Wilderness 3D" (Working Title) (fall 2011), "Time, the 4th Dimension" (wt) (spring 2012), "Kenya: The Big Five" (wt) (fall 2012) and "Turtles: The Last Dinosaurs" (wt) (spring 2013).
Principal photography on "Air Racers 3D: Forces of Flight" resumes in Nevada at the Reno National Championship Air Races on Wednesday. The first filming expedition for "Patagonia Wilderness 3D" will begin on September 25 and continue for two months, while "Time, the 4th Dimension" is scheduled to start shooting in studio in Los Angeles this November.
"These landmark 3D films will be produced internally with the collaboration of local production partners," said Francois Mantello, Chairman and CEO of 3D Entertainment Distribution and 3D Entertainment Films. "After successfully releasing Jean-Michel Cousteau's 2003-2008 3D underwater film trilogy, which has already grossed $80 million theatrically, our ambition to become a leading player in the marketplace by offering IMAX and Digital 3D theatre operators unique, quality 3D films on a regular basis remains unchanged."
3D Entertainment Distribution takes audiences into the sky with "Air Racers 3D: Forces of Flight" for a never-before-seen exploration of the legendary Reno Championship Air Races, the world's fastest motor sport considered by many to be the NASCAR of the air. New 3D footage from the race will be unveiled at the Giant Screen Cinema Association's upcoming Conference, which will be held at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga on September 25-27. This year's edition will also feature the IMAX theatre industry premiere of "Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World" directed by Pascal Vuong and Ronan Chapalain.
In "Time, the 4th Dimension" moviegoers will be transported into the various dimensions that make up our world while focusing on the extraordinary and ill-understood fourth dimension: space-time. "Patagonia Wilderness 3D" (wt) is a thrilling adventure in the wilds of the southernmost region of South America, one of the most remote and pristine locations on Earth, home to prolific and unique biodiversity never before seen on the world's largest screens.
Currently at various stages of development are "Kenya 3D: The Big Five" and "Turtles: The Last Dinosaurs!" 3D Entertainment Films will journey into the very heart of wild Africa, Mount Kenya, a land named "God's resting place" by the Kikuyu tribe, to capture images of the most famous wild animals known in Kenya as the Big Five: the carnivorous felines, the lion and leopard; the largest herbivores, the African elephant and black rhinoceros; and the Cape buffalo, the most dangerous of the five. 3D Entertainment Films will also document sea turtles, endangered marine reptiles that have been in existence for millions of years and have survived several mass extinctions. Audiences will learn about their great migration from feeding to breeding areas, how they use ocean currents, orient themselves thanks to magnetic fields and dive deeper than any other air-breathing animal in the world.
