AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Fantastic Fest will host a World Premiere screening of Zombie Roadkill, from FEARnet and Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert's Ghost House Pictures, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar on Friday, September 24th at 8pm with Academy Award-nominated actor Thomas Haden Church, David Dorfman (The Ring films, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and director David Green in attendance at a special post-screening Q&A, which will be moderated by FEARnet on-air host Spider (Powerman 5000). Presenting Sponsor for Fantastic Fest 2010, FEARnet will also bring the Zombie Roadkill taco truck on-site at the screening so that fans can grab some grub before the show. The gourmet culinary coach will offer up designer tacos that may or may not be filled with shredded, seasoned zombie roadkill. Fantastic Fest kicks off the truck's multi-week tour with scheduled stops in several markets.
Ghost House Pictures' partners Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert (The Evil Dead Series, Drag Me to Hell), together with Jim Burns shepherded the project along with Ben Ketai and Sarah Donohue as Executive Producers. Innovative director David Green helmed the project penned by Henry Gayden.
The horror-comedy features Academy Award-nominated actor Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3, Sideways, Wings) as a tough as nails Park Ranger who teams with an unsuspecting teenager, played by David Dorfman, to escape a cursed stretch of highway that resurrects roadkill in the form of flesh eating zombie animals.
Zombie Roadkill follows a group of college kids driving on an unfamiliar winding road through a national park. The group is heading for a fun weekend away, but when they accidentally run over a "harmless" squirrel, everything takes a dark turn and they quickly discover that this is no ordinary road. In fact, the woods are alive with the undead: wronged woodland creatures that have been reanimated as vengeful, murderous zombies!
"Fantastic Fest brings together the very best in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy to give audiences truly fresh content," said Peter Block, FEARnet's President and General Manager. "This fun and creative environment is the perfect place to unveil our newest original series."
The first two episodes of Zombie Roadkill will premiere on FEARnet.com on October 4th, with a new episode available daily through Friday, October 8th. The terrifyingly twisted new series will also play on FEARnet On Demand with the first three episodes of the series becoming available on October 14th and final episodes available on October 21st.
In celebration of the highly-anticipated series FEARnet will have additional promotions such as a fun Zombie Roadkill branded Whac-a-Mole game at the Fantastic Arcade at the Highball from September 23rd through September 26th. FEARnet also has several themed giveaways planned during the event including an exclusive Zombie Roadkill poster.
FEARnet will also serve as the Gala Sponsor of the fourth annual Fantastic Feud, which will take place at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar at 11:59pm (midnight) on Monday the 27th. The Fantastic Feud is the best horror game show on the planet, and one of the most popular VIP parties at Fantastic Fest each year. FEARnet's resident film critic Scott Weinberg (also Managing Editor of Cinematical.com and contributor to various other sites) will moderate the controlled insanity that he helped create in 2007. A metric ton of terror trivia will get torn to pieces by teams comprised of Fantastic Fest filmmakers and guests, Austin movie luminaries, and Alamo programmers for a chance to win FEARnet branded prize packs.
"Scott Weinberg's annual Fantastic Feud is a wanton blender-full of depravity, chaos, and debauchery spun together by the biggest horror braniacs on the planet. I love it," says festival director Tim League. "The highest rated 'film' of the 2007 festival, the Fantastic Feud is always one of the quintessential moments of the festival."
Fantastic Fest has scoured the globe for the very best in action, horror, science fiction, fantasy to the truly bizarre in contemporary cinema for your viewing pleasure. Fantastic Fest is the film festival with the boring parts cut out. Miss this one and your regrets will agonize you for years to come. You have been warned.
