On Comcast Cares Day, Local Employees Lend Hand to Indiana Communities

Employees to Paint, Clean, Hammer and Plant as Part of Annual Day of Community Service

INDIANAPOLIS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, today announced that it expects more than 1,000 volunteers across Indiana to turn out for "Comcast Cares Day," the company's nationwide annual day of service. During the week of April 19 and culminating with six simultaneous community projects across the state on Saturday, April 24, local Comcast employees and their families and friends will lend a hand at various nonprofit organizations to perform community improvement activities, including refurbishing food banks and a homeless shelter, sprucing up a YMCA summer camp and painting a family center that strengthens area families through education.

"Each year, I am proud to join thousands of Comcast employees and volunteers participating in Comcast Cares Day projects across the country," said Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brian L. Roberts. "It is truly inspiring to be a part of such a collaborative effort that helps so many people and organizations in the communities we serve."

Nationwide, more than 55,000 Comcast volunteers will participate in this annual day of service, which is one of the largest single days of corporate volunteer efforts in the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast helps to power dreams and demonstrate a year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves.

"Comcast has a proven track record of giving back to the communities in which our employees live and work, and this year's Comcast Cares Day efforts will benefit organizations that help thousands of people across Indiana," said Scott Tenney, Senior Vice President for Comcast in Indiana. "Each year, I am proud to join thousands of Comcast employees and volunteers participating in Comcast Cares Day projects, and I'm grateful to the more than 1,000 Hoosiers who have signed up to donate their time and talents to help make such a big difference in our state."

As part of Comcast Cares Day, Comcast volunteers in Indiana volunteered in the following locations:

-- Our Family Center in Hammond, an organization devoted to strengthening
area families through education and guidance, where volunteers will
paint and clean up the center and its grounds;

-- Center for the Homeless in South Bend, a homeless shelter where
volunteers will perform refurbishing projects to spruce up the
facility and its adjoining Veterans Shelter;

-- Hodell Acres YMCA Childcare Services Facility in Fort Wayne, a YMCA of
Greater Fort Wayne property where volunteers will paint, wash windows
and playground equipment, construct shelves and landscape and spruce
up the grounds;

-- YMCA of Kokomo, where volunteers will paint, clean and perform yard
work for the main facility as well as for its Camp Tycony grounds and
Child Care Center;

-- Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc. in Indianapolis, a food bank that
feeds thousands of Indiana residents, where volunteers will landscape
and paint the facility and pack boxes to be delivered to elderly
residents in need; and

-- Hoosier Hills Food Bank in Bloomington, a food bank that distributes
nutritious food products to non-profit organizations that provide free
feeding programs for families and individuals in need in Monroe,
Martin, Owen, Orange, Brown and Lawrence Counties in Central Indiana,
where volunteers will package boxes with food for distribution, as
well as landscape the facility.

In the week preceding Comcast Cares Day, volunteers will also gather at Comcast's Indiana headquarters in Fishers to hold a blood drive with the Indiana Blood Center and to fill backpacks with needed school supplies for the United Way of Indiana to distribute to local children in need.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee, family member and friend who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.
