WINDHOEK, April 9, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ --
Two senior employees of the public broadcaster, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) were suspended over an alleged host of irregularities. Susan Brits, Acting Manager for Administration, and Eben Wiese, Acting Chief of Security and Loss Controller, were suspended last week.
NBC Acting Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Cecil Nguvauva, confirmed their suspension and indicated that it was effected to allow investigations into the matters to go unhindered. He declined to disclose any evidence on the allegations as he said the matter is ?sub judice?. However an independent local newspaper, Namibian Sun reported on 8 April 2010 that allegations leveled against Brits is that she employed discriminatory practices in hiring contract workers and freelancers at the music and video libraries. On the other hand Wiese is alleged to have clashed with almost everyone at the corporation when he issued security entrance cards.
