Universal Studios Hollywood Guests Get a Close Encounter With Conan O'Brien as Madame Tussauds Hollywood Immortalizes 'The Tonight Show' Star in Wax for Permanent Display at 'The Entertainment Capital of L.A.'
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire -- Universal Studios Hollywood guests will get an exclusive, close-up encounter with NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien when a new wax figure of the star, created by the world-famous artists of Madame Tussauds Hollywood, is unveiled for display as a permanent feature within the theme park on Friday, December 10, 2009.
The new Conan O'Brien wax figure, an extraordinarily detailed likeness of the late night TV star, is the first Madame Tussauds wax figure to be permanently displayed outside of one of Madame Tussauds' nine museums. Universal Studios Hollywood guests will be offered the opportunity to sit on a replica of "The Tonight Show's" signature set and have their photographs taken with "Conan" as if they were "The Tonight Show" guests.
The new lifelike Conan O'Brien figure will be housed inside the "The NBC Universal Experience" attraction, located within the heart of Universal Studios Hollywood. "The NBC Universal Experience" celebrates NBC-Universal's stars and productions from its beginning through the present day.
To create the wax figure, the two-time Emmy®-winner posed for Madame Tussauds Hollywood's world-famous sculptors as part of a unique process that entails meticulous attention to every detail of a personality's facial and physical likeness. At an average cost of $300,000 each, the world famous Madame Tussauds figures are in a class of their own, noted for their precision, exactness and lifelike qualities.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood, Southern California's most important new attraction, opened earlier this year. The new $55 million attraction is situated along Hollywood Blvd., next to Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood is the ninth museum in the Madame Tussauds world-wide portfolio. Other locations include London, Amsterdam, Las Vegas, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Washington, DC, and Berlin. 2009 also marks the 200th anniversary of Madame Tussauds, which has played host to over one half billion guests.
