ION Television Attempt To Break Guinness World Record for 'Largest Moving Box'
NEW YORK, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- ION Television will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Moving Box to celebrate the premiere of its original series "Durham County." The record attempt will take place on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 am on Times Square's Military Island, New York City.
Representatives from ION Television will gather on site early Thursday morning in Times Square to assemble the massive structure following the strict Guinness World Records guidelines to set a new record. The current Guinness World Record for largest cardboard box measured 37 ft 10 in x 15 ft 1.5 in x 7 ft 7 in, and was manufactured by students of Aarhus Business College in Aarhus, Denmark, back in 2007.
Official Guinness World Records guidelines mandate that the box must be assembled from the same material as a standard cardboard box is made from and that all reasonable standards of workmanship are adhered to. The structure when fully assembled must exceed the previous record measurements in all dimensions, and be measured by a qualified surveyor.
An on site Guinness World Records official adjudicator, Carlos Martinez, will be present to witness the measurement and validate the achievement, which will culminate in a certificate presentation if the endeavor is successful.
The record attempt is being made in conjunction with the launch of ION Television's new original series "Durham County," about a police detective who moves back to his home town, only to discover that his childhood nemesis lives next door and the neighborhood is rife with buried secrets. The television series launches on Monday, September 7th.
