Call for Artists: Smashburger Seeks Des Moines Band for Sept. 19, 2009 Gig

Fast-Casual Burger Restaurant to Host Local Rock Your City Band Competition

DES MOINES, Iowa, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Smashburger, a fast-casual restaurant concept, will kick off its Iowa debut with Des Moines' Rock Your City Band Competition. Details on how to enter can be found below. The winning band will play a one-hour set at the new Smashburger store at noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Iowa's first Smashburger location will open at 1821 22nd St. (corner of 22nd and University) in West Des Moines on Sept. 16, 2009.

Entry deadline: Friday, Sept. 11, 2009

Local bands can enter by:
1. Uploading a brief video performance (PG, please) to YouTube by
Friday, Sept. 11.
2. Sending the YouTube link, contact information and any questions to
bands@smashburger.com.

All bands' videos will be posted on the national Smashburger Web site. Finalists will be notified of their inclusion in the competition. Fans may vote once daily.

The winner of Des Moines' Rock Your City Band Competition will be chosen by the public through online voting at www.smashburger.com/bands, which runs Sept. 12 through Sept. 16, 2009. The winning band will be announced Thursday, Sept. 17, and will be "paid" in Smashburgers.

Entrants and the public are encouraged to log onto www.smashburger.com/bands to see how the bands are faring. Don't forget to remind others to vote too!

Bands are responsible for transporting their own instruments and taking care of any sound equipment needs.
