Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol Renew 'Every Goal Saves A Life' Campaign With Malaria No More
Channels Extend Their Pledge for the 2009-2010 Season To Fight Malaria with FC Barcelona and Malaria No More
LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tonight Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol will announce their renewed partnership with FC Barcelona and Malaria No More to end malaria deaths through the Every Goal Saves A Life / Cada Gol Salva una Vida campaign during Fox Football Fone-In, Fox Soccer Channel's weekly call-in show beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
In addition, the networks are releasing a new public service announcement about the campaign to raise awareness about malaria and reinforce their commitment to fighting the disease. Launched in August 2008, the Every Goal Saves A Life campaign provides an African family with a $10 mosquito net for every goal scored in a live broadcast on either network. To date, Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol have raised more than $22,000 for life-saving mosquito nets.
In addition to raising funds, Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol will continue to raise awareness about malaria in several ways:
-- Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol will regularly air the
new public service announcement to promote their "Every Goal Saves a
Life" campaign.
-- The Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol websites -
foxsoccer.com and foxsportsla.msn.com - will host a video detailing
the network's continued commitment to FC Barcelona and Malaria No
More.
-- Fox Football Fone-In will reveal the goals-to-nets tally each week to
viewers, and inform soccer fans how they can join the cause.
-- The networks' websites will track the progress of goals scored and
nets raised during the campaign.
-- Network hosts will share campaign details during game telecasts and
encourage fans to join in the fight against malaria.
"Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol are two of the biggest names in the world of soccer and they're using their channels to save lives," said Scott Case, CEO of Malaria No More. "They know the fans of the world's most popular sport are ready to join the winning team and help us reach our goal of ending malaria deaths in Africa."
The announcement of Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol's renewed pledge to support the campaign comes on the heels of a distribution of 1,500 mosquito nets at the FC Barcelona Foundation's XICS youth center in Richard Toll, Senegal. The nets were secured with funds from the Every Goal Saves a Life campaign.
