PJTV Launches New Era of Citizen Reporting with Coverage of Tea Parties

PJTV Launches New Era of Citizen Reporting with Coverage of Tea Parties

Over 500 Volunteer Reporters Expected to Cover Grassroots Rallies from Coast to Coast for Pajamas TV

LOS ANGELES, April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pajamas TV (www.pjtv.com) is ushering in a new era in citizen reporting with its volunteer program for citizen reporters that is expected to exceed 500 by tomorrow, April 15, the day of the nationwide tax day tea parties. The program only started a few weeks ago. PJTV is providing a wide variety of technological ways for reporters to submit content in its groundbreaking coverage of this emerging grassroots movement.

Pajamas TV has been following the tea party movement since February with a series of Internet video reports with Glenn Reynolds, video reports with the co-founder of Top Conservatives on Twitter (TCOT), Michael Patrick Leahy, as well as with video and photos submitted by viewers of PJTV.

"However, with over 500 estimated tea parties going on in one day, we needed a new model to scale our coverage," noted Pajamas Media CEO Roger L. Simon.

The Pajamas TV coverage model includes a combination of in-studio guests and field reports. The in-studio guests include in part:

-- Washington, D.C. - Senator Fred Thompson and his wife Jeri, as well as
Jennifer Rubin (field)
-- Knoxville, Tenn. - Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit

-- El Segundo, Calif. (Los Angeles) - Michael Patrick Leahy, Roger L.
Simon, Bill Whittle, Alfonzo Rachel, Joe Hicks, Alan Barton

The new model allows citizen reporters to submit reports for each tea party and Pajamas has over 500 registered in its database for April 15. Any reporter can submit:

-- General photos of events
-- Photos specifically of posters at events
-- Videos of tea party planning meetings or actual tea parties

-- Text reports

Some reports will be coming in live into the PJTV studio headquarters in El Segundo, Calif., from remote locations in Washington and New York, as well as from viewers with laptop webcams. In addition, PJTV is partnering with Cellecast (www.cellecast.com) to provide cell phone based reports. Citizen reporters will also use Twitter and text messages to convey updates to PJTV.
