Next Door Talent Stages Exciting Online Competitions

Next Door Talent Stages Exciting Online Competitions

New website puts contestants of all kinds in the worldwide spotlight

EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Popular online portals like Facebook, the Million Dollar Webpage and Whateverlife.com are proof that when it comes to Internet sites, there's a lot of money to be made. All it takes is an innovative idea, some ingenuity and major public interest in the site. That's why Lin Nguyen, a 22-year-old Seattle University student, feels confident about her debuting website, Next Door Talent (http://www.nextdoortalent2.com/). An Internet venue that holds competitions for anything and everything, Next Door Talent has applied the idea behind successful television programs that feature contests to an online format.

"I've been wanting to create something really big for people on the Internet, and the idea came to me when I was watching 'America's Got Talent,'" Nguyen says. "Next Door Talent is all about everyday people showcasing their talents and characteristics in an online video format. The competition is open to the entire world, and anyone can vote for their favorite contestant."

Also inspired by the successful young-adult founders of some of today's most notable websites, Nguyen has been dreaming up ideas for a site that would be a hit with people everywhere. Next Door Talent's competition themes will change regularly, generating ongoing excitement and catering to a wide range of interests. For example, one competition might focus around martial arts, while another might center on runway potential, playing the violin, dancing the tango, etc. Contestants enter through a nomination process, and then submit a DVD of an on-camera "interview" and "act."

"I will personally put the DVD submissions into one video release to the public, for friends, family, neighbors and anyone else who wants to watch it," Nguyen says. "Voting is then held online, and the number-one winner receives a great prize."

The Next Door Talent website provides a complete outline of DVD submission terms and conditions and competition rules. Of note, videos should be kept to 10 minutes or less, and must be appropriate for public viewing. Because the quality of the video matters, people will also be judged by how well the video is shot and edited, in addition to the content that's offered.

According to Nguyen, "It's about the whole visual experience, from the interview to the actual performance or talent, and the creative video process. This will encourage people to submit quality work, and play a major role in the integrity of Next Door Talent's competitions and overall success."
