Lost Kingdom in Limestone Cave Mineshaft Resurfaces

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The movie, Atari, produced by and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the "Father of the video game industry", is reigniting the passion of the original gamer.

Buried over 150 feet deep in a Midwest limestone cave, you will find what started as an 80's craze, what defined a generation of gamers, and what is now known as the original video game...one million Atari video games in mint condition, preserved underground in a bunker-like setting reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's cold war-era classic, Dr. Strangelove. Over 35 titles including such names as Pole Position, Ms. Pac Man, Battleground, Larry Bird v Dr. J, and Donkey Kong all never opened and in their original packaging.

Bill Houlehan, president of O'Shea Ltd., a wholesale liquidation company based in Kansas City, MO purchased Atari's entire inventory of over 3 million games back in the early 90's. Houlehan stored the games in the cave believing that since they were the original video games the desire for them would resurface.

In an era where video games have more technology than Apollo 11's mission to the moon, why would anyone want an 8 bit video game? Well, as Houlehan puts it, "These are classics. These games are what people grew up with and what gave rise to a multi-billion dollar industry. The advances in gaming technology and the creation of gaming communities all started with Atari."

Now with a major motion picture about Atari in the pipeline Houlehan has seen sales pick-up in a big way, "Atari is back! Gamers are talking about their favorite Atari games and are dusting off their old Atari consoles," says Houlehan, "with over 40 million consoles sold, you are bound to find one in your attic, at your local secondhand store or even on eBay." One buyer wrote Houlehan saying, "I'm 36 years old. I got home today and found my package. My wife hasn't seen me this happy in years!" Another buyer, a mother of two wrote in, "Thank you! I have two boys, 11 and 7 years old and never felt comfortable with them playing video games due to the more adult nature of many games made today. These games are perfect for them, plus I know how to play them too!"

Houlehan sells these unopened, collectible games for $5 each plus shipping. Go to www.AtariClassic.com for a list of titles.
