Pulse 87 FM New York Gets First PPM-based Custom Ratings Report

Dance music outlet targets multi-ethnic audience in five boroughs of New York City

New York City entrepreneur gets marketing parity for LPTV-based station, thanks to PPM

NEW YORK, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arbitron Inc. (NYSE:ARB) announced today that it has released the first station-specific custom Portable People Meter(TM) listening estimates for "Pulse 87" (WNYZ-LP), a subsidiary of Mega Media Group, Inc., (BULLETIN BOARD: MMDA) . The station broadcasts on the audio portion of a low-power television station on VHF channel 6 and 87.7 FM.

Pulse 87 FM: More than a half million listeners

According to the PPM(TM) custom audience estimates released this week, Pulse 87 FM reached 540,700 persons age 6 and older (cumulative audience) during the September 2008 PPM survey period (August 21-September 17) in the New York radio metro for the Monday-Sunday 6am-midnight daypart.

On the weekends (Saturday-Sunday 6am-midnight) Pulse 87 FM reached 266,000 persons age 6 and older (cumulative audience) during the September 2008 PPM survey period (August 21-September 17) in the New York radio metro.

Persons 18-49, a key target demographic for radio advertisers, account for 64 percent of the Pulse 87 FM total audience. The station reached 349,100 persons age 18 to 49 (cumulative audience), Monday-Sunday 6am-midnight during the September 2008 PPM survey period.

Mega Media Group CEO, Alex Shvarts, stated: "Without PPM, we'd be frozen out of the syndicated radio ratings system. As a New York City-based business, we're looking forward to providing our fellow entrepreneurs with an advertising option targeted to the New York Tri State Area. With PPM ratings we are now in a position to compete for advertising dollars from major national brands. We have already begun to experience increased activity from national advertising agencies anxious to have another Radio outlet. Pulse 87 FM is dance music station featuring today's latest hits and exclusive remixes from around the globe. That means we appeal to a young audience of all races and ethnicities that calls New York City home."

"Only government licensed AM and FM radio stations, or HD stations or their Internet streams are currently eligible to be reported in Arbitron syndicated services. With PPM, we can create custom reports detailing the Pulse 87 FM audience. These custom estimates can be placed right along side the PPM currency ratings that advertisers and agencies utilize to allocate ad dollars in New York City," said Pierre Bouvard, president, Sales and Marketing, Arbitron Inc.

About the Portable People Meter

The Arbitron Portable People Meter system uses a passive audience measurement device - about the size of a small cell phone - to track consumer exposure to media and entertainment, including broadcast, cable and satellite television; terrestrial, satellite and online radio as well as cinema advertising and many types of place-based electronic media. Carried throughout the day by randomly selected survey participants, the PPM(TM) device can track when and where they watch television, listen to radio as well as how they interact with other forms of media and entertainment.

The PPM detects inaudible codes embedded in the audio portion of media and entertainment content delivered by broadcasters, content providers and distributors. At the end of the day, the meter is placed in a docking station that extracts the codes and sends them to a central computer. The PPM is equipped with a motion sensor, a patented quality control feature unique to the system, which allows Arbitron to confirm the compliance of the PPM survey participants every day.
