When Times Are Tough American Bar Goers Rock Hard

Metallica Dominates Ecast BarPulse for September

NEW YORK, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Hard rock dominated this month's Ecast(R) BarPulse(TM) with Metallica's much anticipated comeback album dominating the chart.

With their first CD release in five years, Metallica's "Death Magnetic" took six spots on the September Ecast BarPulse -- a monthly ranking of new music played in bars across the country -- proving that the metal gods still reign large with fans. Also rocking hard on BarPulse is Buckcherry, one of Ecast's most popular modern rockers, taking the number four spot with their "Too Drunk" single from their new album "Black Butterfly."

Nonetheless, it wasn't All-Metal-Month in bars and nightclubs: R&B and Hip Hop made strong showings, with Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent" and "Closer" from the artist's new album "Year of the Gentleman" scoring number 2 and number 10 on the chart, and Kanye West's radio hit "Love Lockdown" coming in at number 5.

"Metal fans, like all real music enthusiasts, are hard core -- they want to hear the entire album not just the radio single -- and you can see that reflected in our BarPulse findings," said Lisa Tiver, senior vice president business affairs, Ecast. "Whenever possible, Ecast adds entire album content, giving fans access to every track and thereby promoting visibility to an entire body of work."
