Consumer Reports Poll Finds Lingering Confusion Around the Digital Television Transition
A new Consumer Reports poll has found that millions of Americans who will be affected by the digital television transition remain confused about how it will impact them and what they need to do to prevent losing television programming. On February 7, 2009, the United States Congress has mandated that all U.S. broadcasters switch to digital broadcasting, which could leave millions of Americans without access to free over-the-air broadcasts unless they buy a digital converter box, a new digital television or subscribe to cable or satellite.

AAA Survey Finds Parents Unaware of Crash Risk For Younger Teens; Parents Knowingly Allow Children to Ride in Cars Under Dangerous Conditions
Many parents allow their children to ride in cars under conditions they know are dangerous. Furthermore, parents are unaware of the increasing risk of dying in a car crash their young teens face well before they reach driving age. These are two of many gaps between parental knowledge, behavior and traffic safety facts revealed by a new triple 'A' survey of parents of children ages 12 to 17. An overwhelming majority of parents of teen drivers correctly identified the dangers of driving with multiple teen passengers or even one teen passenger, yet nearly half of parents of teen drivers say their teen rides with another teen driver at least once a week. More than 1 in 7 parents of non-driving high school students allow their child to ride with a teen at least weekly, as do some parents of junior high students.

Parents See Benefits of Children Playing Video Games
Parents across America are recognizing the benefits of their children playing videos games, according to a new study from Sony Online Entertainment LLC. The results, published exclusively in the new November issue of Family Circle magazine, suggest parents are seeing improvements in hand/eye coordination, problem solving and typing skills.
In addition to basic education elements, the survey suggests video games are teaching children to think strategically. The majority of video games require players to follow rules, think tactically, make fast decisions and fulfill numerous objectives to win. This resonates with the 70 percent of the parents surveyed who have seen their children's problem-solving skills improve since they started playing video games.
