Feed the Hungry - See a Free Movie

Feed the Hungry - See a Free Movie

FREE Admission to MJR Theatres During the November 6 Canned Film Festival

OAK PARK, Mich., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- France has Cannes, but metro Detroit has the "Canned Film Festival" Thursday, November 6. On that day participants will get to see any movie of their choice for FREE at the six participating MJR Theatres with the donation of five cans of food. It's a "win-win" situation to help feed the area's hungry while getting to see a first-run movie! The festival will be held from 4-10 p.m. Thursday, November 6 at the MJR Theatres located in Brighton, Chesterfield, Sterling Heights, Southgate, Waterford and The Mall at Partridge Creek.

The Canned Film Festival is hosted by 96.3 WDVD and 93.1 Doug FM. Blaine and Lisa with Allyson from 96.3 WDVD will broadcast live from 4-8 p.m. at the MJR Waterford Digital 16 Cinema located at 7501 Highland Rd. in Waterford; 248-666-7900. It will be a night of music, fun, meeting on-air personalities and watching the latest first-run movies. For more information log onto www.963wdvd.com or www.931dougfm.com.

At the other five participating MJR Theatres, for each five cans of food donated, the viewer will receive a voucher allowing immediate entry into any movie playing that night. Vouchers must be used on this one night only.

All canned food donated during the Canned Film Festival will be collected and distributed by the Gleaners to food providers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston Counties.

Last year's Canned Film Festival was highly successful with over 8,000 people attending the six MJR Theatres and donating 44,818 pounds of food!

This year Kroger has issued a challenge to the public: for every Kroger brand canned good donated by the public, Kroger will MATCH the donation!

MJR Theatres is metro Detroit's oldest and largest locally owned theater chain. MJR Theatres offer superior digital sound and digital high-definition movie projection along with stadium seating in all of its 116 screens. And for added value, MJR offers one free refill on any size pop and popcorn, including specially priced kidpacks.
