Columbia Records invites the New York press to an exclusive red carpet party event, celebrating the release of EVOLVER, the much awaited new album from Grammy-winning recording artist and concert performer John Legend, at the Rendezvous Lounge (409 West 13th Street, Manhattan) on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 10pm (Media Call: 10pm).
Presented by Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet, whose luxury timepieces have embodied tradition, daring and excellence since 1875, the John Legend EVOLVER party will feature music by DJ Mateo and champagne provided by Dom Perignon.
Scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 28, EVOLVER is the third full-length studio release from John Legend, whose debut album, Get Lifted hit #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and became America's #1 Top R&B/Hip-Hop album shortly after its release in December 2004. A critical and commercial triumph, Get Lifted earned an astounding eight Grammy nominations -- he won Best New Artist, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance ("Ordinary People") and Best R&B album -- while selling more than three million copies worldwide.
The artist's second platinum collection, 2006's Once Again, entered the Billboard Top 200 at #3, peaked at #1 on the R&B Album Sales chart, and secured two Grammy nominations: "Save Room" (for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance) and "Heaven" (which won Best Male R&B Vocal Performance). John racked up his fifth overall Grammy win in 2006 when "Family Affair" -- a track he'd cut with Joss Stone and Van Hunt -- took Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
In 2007, John Legend launched the Show Me Campaign (ShowMeCampaign.org), a grassroots movement whose mission is "to fight economic and spiritual poverty through fostering sustainable development (personal, social, educational, economic) at the individual, family, and small community levels."
