China Yida's FETV and China Education TV Partner in Co-Sponsoring TV Debate Competition Event

China Yida's FETV and China Education TV Partner in Co-Sponsoring TV Debate Competition Event

FUZHOU, China, Aug. 21 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- China Yida Holding Co., Ltd. (BULLETIN BOARD: CYID) ("China Yida" or "the Company"), a leading comprehensive tourism and media management company, today announced that FETV, a provincial-level television station managed by China Yida, and China Education TV (CETV), the largest education TV media in China, exclusively partnered to co-broadcast the "7th Annual Debate Competition for College Students across the Taiwan Strait" live. The debate was held from July 21-23, 2008 in Fuzhou and received high viewer ratings among cross-strait college students and television viewers. Following the live broadcast, from July 24-31, 2008, FETV and CETV telecasted the preliminary, semi-final and final competitions via satellite globally, in prime time.

On July 18, 2008, Taiwan authorities began to open its local tourism market to mainland China, marking an historic turning point for tourism and also signifying the strengthening of cross-Strait economic, cultural and media exchanges. The broadcast of the debate competition as an important cross- Strait cultural and media exchange event boosted FETV's viewership in Fujian province, attracting more attention from its potential and existing advertising clients, many of whom have increased the frequency and length of their advertisement broadcasts. New clients from across the Strait, including those in heavy advertising sectors like consumer products and fashion apparel, increased advertisements during the competition telecast and have begun negotiations with FETV to co-sponsor various cultural and economic activities between Taiwan and Fujian province. Certain of these companies have also expressed interest in producing additional advertisements for future broadcasts of cross-Strait events and programs.

Dr. Chen Minhua, chairman of China Yida, said, "In this historic time, we are pleased to be an initiator of broadcasting Taiwanese events in the mainland through our partnership with CETV. The annual Debate Competition for College Students across the Taiwan Strait began in 2002, and each year's telecast has shown a steady increase in ratings. This year's show, which, per AC Nielsen data, attracted more than 210 million people domestically and abroad, successfully enhanced FETV's reputation, and helped to communicate China Yida's focus on educational and cultural aspects outside of Fujian province. FETV's target audience of urban individuals aged 18 to 45 increased by 31.6% year-over-year for this year's broadcast.

"Because Fujian province is situated in such close proximity to Taiwan, we have the ability to be the first station to broadcast programs involving Taiwan. We plan to partner with more national media networks to sponsor additional television competition programs, such as the '1st West Strait Folk Contest.' At the same time, we believe we can develop a mutual relationship with Taiwanese media to deliver a series of diversified tourism television programs to further broaden the reach of FETV's brand in the cultural and tourism fields, attracting larger television audiences and more potential tourists from across the Strait to our flagship destination spot, the Great Golden Lake," Mr. Chen concluded.
