Belle Island Village Announces Entertainment Design Group as Interior Design and Installation Provider for Darrell Waltrip, Debbie Reynolds Attractions
Nationally-known firm to create highly unique, interactive components of key attractions
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Belle Island Village - a 26-acre, themed destination with retail, hospitality and entertainment venues - announced today that Entertainment Design Group, Inc. (EDG), a nationally- known event and entertainment production and design firm, will manage the interior design, theme development, audio-visual package and installation of Belle Island's Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience and the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
The Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience, a multi-million-dollar, 25,000- square-foot, highly interactive attraction spotlights all aspects of the stock car racing world, featuring racing legend Darrell Waltrip and fellow racing industry veteran Jeff Hammond.
The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum, a 45,000-square-foot attraction, will feature multiple theatre venues and approximately 200 high- definition presentations and kiosks highlighting all aspects of Hollywood movie history, actors and films, from the silent era to the present.
EDG's services will include design and construction of the numerous displays, theatres, interactive areas and one-of-a-kind experiences that make up both unique venues.
"The Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience and the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum will rival similar attractions found at Disney and Universal Studios," said Steven L. Guy, president of Entertainment Design Group.
With more than $1.5 million being invested in audio-visual within the Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience alone, visitors can expect to experience impressive technology that currently has not been used in the region.
When Darrell Waltrip is not making in-person appearances at the attraction, EDG has created a hologram of the legendary racer to appear in the interactive venues of the attraction, using a three-dimensional lighting technique. According to Guy, the hologram will give the appearance of a life- like Darrell Waltrip that will allow visitors to see him each time they visit the attraction.
"EDG is an industry powerhouse in the niche of developing truly unique, high-impact and interactive venues and experiences," said Glen B. Bilbo, president of Southern Venue Development, LLC, overseeing the construction of Belle Island Village.
"The Belle Island Village development is an ideal type of project for Entertainment Design Group - given its diversity as an entertainment venue and the highly visual and experiential nature of its attractions," said Rick Clark, vice president of design, Entertainment Design Group. "We are delighted to take on this project and to help give Belle Island's visitors an 'out of the box' experience."
Sited in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Belle Island Village represents more than $114 million in capital investment and will include more than 90 specialty shops and demonstration crafts, more than a dozen restaurants, several entertainment venues and other attractions, all in a pedestrian-friendly design.
Based in Austell, Ga., Entertainment Design Group specializes in all areas of entertainment production and event design. Key projects the firm has overseen include Houston Space Center's "Star Wars - The Clone Wars Exhibit," Six Flags' "Dark Knight Ride" and Macy's "150th Birthday Celebration."
