Aaron Karo Announces Launch of Comedy Web Site Ruminations.com and Stand-Up Performance on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
New web site described as 'Digg meets Twitter meets Seinfeld'
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Famed Internet humorist Aaron Karo today announced the launch of his start-up Ruminations.com, as well as a stand-up performance on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson that will air Friday evening, August 15th at 12:30am on CBS. Ruminations.com is a user-generated humor site that enables members to write "ruminations" (funny observations or anecdotes less than 100 words) and share them with the community. The best submissions are voted to the top of the site.
The site is an extension of the Ruminations brand that Karo has been cultivating since 1997 in a viral email column and two books. Ruminations.com is positioned as an alternative to watching comedy videos, which require an investment of several minutes and often disappoint. The site's hilarious, bite-sized commentary offers a truly more efficient way to procrastinate at work. Users rate their favorite submissions as "gourmet" -- a term coined by Karo -- and the most gourmet ruminations enjoy prime placement on the site's homepage.
Karo, who will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the site's parent company, Ruminations Inc., is a Wharton graduate who left Wall Street to become a comedian. He will make his network television debut tomorrow evening when he performs stand-up on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS. The Late Late show airs at 12:30am on Friday night (technically Saturday morning).
Ruminations began as a series of email forwards that Karo wrote from his freshmen dorm room at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. Through forwarding and word-of-mouth, the emails began to spread, eventually spawning an "email column" that Karo continues to send to this day. The column has been read by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Simon & Schuster has also published two best-selling compilations of the column entitled Ruminations on College Life and Ruminations on Twentysomething Life.
