Schools Compete for Votes to Win $1 Million; Fans Can Text-In Votes Beginning Today

NEW YORK, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- MSL Sports and Entertainment's "Talking Smack Express" will visit about 15 college campuses across the country as part of a promotional tour for the inaugural Gridiron Bash(TM), which includes simultaneous live concerts, fan fests and giant pep rallies tied to spring football games and is expected to be the largest sports and entertainment event ever.

"America has John McCain 'talking straight' and Gridiron Bash 'talking smack'," says Shawn Garrity, president of MSL Sports and Entertainment, creators and producers of Gridiron Bash(TM). "In both cases, it's all about the votes."

Participating Gridiron Bash(TM) schools are competing in the USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series(TM) fan contest to see which school has the most loyal and passionate football fans and to select one fan from each school as the "Ultimate College Football Fan." Fans across the country can place votes for their favorite participating schools by attending a Gridiron Bash(TM) event or sending a text message (see details at www.gridironbash.com). The winning school will receive $1 million towards its general scholarship fund; second place gets $500,000, and third place receives $250,000.

To date, the "Talking Smack Express" has visited Penn State, where Fergie will perform; University of Kentucky, where Dierks Bentley will be live in concert; University of Tennessee, which will host Taylor Swift and Montgomery Gentry, and University of South Carolina, host to the Black Crowes -- all on April 18. The 42-foot RV, decorated Gridiron Bash(TM) from head-to-toe, will finish off the month with visits to Texas A&M, Arizona State, University of Utah, University of Colorado, and University of Iowa.

At each stop, the RV is giving away t-shirts and mini-footballs, meeting with student groups, distributing fliers, participating in radio promotions, attending university games and generating overall excitement. Garrity and other MSL staff, including former NFL All-Pro Chuck Muncie (a partner with MSL), are traveling with the RV.

"All of these schools are in it to win, so the competition is incredible," says Garrity. "We expect it to become especially fierce as text votes begin coming in and the schools' running tallies of tickets sold get posted."

Fox Sports Net and the Big 10 Network will air two one-hour shows centered around Gridiron Bash(TM). The winning school will be presented with a check for $1 Million during the broadcast on Sunday, April 20, from the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame.
