Five Hundred Watermelon Industry Leaders Come to the Aid of THE WUMBLERS and Request Oprah Winfrey's Assistance

Five Hundred Watermelon Industry Leaders Come to the Aid of THE WUMBLERS and Request Oprah Winfrey's Assistance

Call Campaign Ignited Amongst Influential Growers, Distributors, and Retailers as Cartoon Network Ignores THE WUMBLERS in Its Effort to Do More Good for More Children

FORT LEE, N.J., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Laura J. Wellington, both mother and creator of the award winning, children's television series, THE WUMBLERS, enlisted the help of five hundred of the most influential watermelon industry leaders in the United States in her appeal to meet with the COO of Cartoon Network, Stuart Snyder, after her phone call to discuss the airing of the series went unheard. In a formal presentation during the annual National Watermelon Association's conference held in Alabama last week, Ms. Wellington ignited a fury throughout the industry as the NWA learned of Cartoon Network's resistance to meet regarding the placement of such a wonderful, value driven, and entertaining series in their line up. The National Watermelon Association is partnered with The Giddy Gander Company on THE WUMBLERS series.

At the request of Ms. Wellington to lean on their strength, the roomful of industry leaders joined her on a phone call to Cartoon Network's COO, Stuart Snyder, to attempt, once again, to arrange for a meeting. A response has yet to be forthcoming, igniting a commitment made by all five hundred industry leaders to call Mr. Snyder each day until this remarkable children's television series receives the consideration it is due from Cartoon Network. A second phone call will be made to The Oprah Winfrey Show each day enacting her support as well, having chosen to rely on Ms. Winfrey's considerable influence and continuous aid of children to help get the job done.

"All we are trying to do here is help make the world a better place for children to live and grow. Being that children remain the primary audience in which Cartoon Network serves, you would think that Cartoon Network would be eager to meet and place on air such a wonderful children's television series that has already inspired so many throughout the world and received numerous parenting awards and seals. After all, the welfare of children should come first in children's television, now shouldn't it? Disney seems to think so as the series currently remains in the hands of Disney's Executive Director of Scheduling and Acquisitions, Robin Agranoff, who embraced the opportunity to review THE WUMBLERS" and consider it for their line up.

"Parents are looking for children's television shows that help them raise their families in this very stressed out environment which offers few children's shows to this avail. In our goal to mentor good children that turn out to be even better human beings, broadcasters like Cartoon Network should be stepping up to the plate just as Disney has done and move to bring THE WUMBLERS on board. Every parent in the world would thank them for it!" says WUMBLERS creator, Laura J. Wellington.

THE WUMBLERS contingent believes Oprah Winfrey would agree and has asked The Oprah Winfrey Show to help shed some light on this matter. "However, if this interview does not happen, we will get the job done on our own as the world's children are too important not to!"

The phone numbers of both Cartoon Network and The Oprah Winfrey Show will be distributed this week to launch the call campaign.
