Call for Entries Announced for NAMIC Spring 2008 Writers' Workshop

Veteran Writer Carole Kirschner To Lead Workshop Presented In Conjunction With The NAMIC-Southern California West Coast Creative Summit

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) today announced the call for entries for the NAMIC Spring 2008 Writers' Workshop. Scheduled for April 15-16, 2008 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, the NAMIC Spring 2008 Writers' Workshop is being presented in conjunction with the NAMIC-Southern California West Coast Creative Summit. A total of fifteen (15) writers of color will be selected to take part in the intense day and a half workshop designed to give participants the opportunity to hone their craft and learn the essentials of creating, packaging and selling a script. The application deadline is March 14, 2008.

"The inaugural Television Writers' Workshop held in New York last fall as part of the Annual NAMIC Conference was a resounding success," said Kathy Johnson, president, NAMIC. "We are excited to continue facilitating this workshop series with the goal of expanding the pool of qualified, talented writers of color."

Established in support of NAMIC's effort to increase multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry, the NAMIC Spring 2008 Writers' Workshop will be led by Carole Kirschner, a veteran television executive and producer. Kirschner is the architect of the CBS Diversity Initiative Writers Mentoring Program. A judging panel of communications industry executives, selected by NAMIC will choose a maximum of fifteen (15) participants who will each receive complimentary admission into the program. The writers' workshop is a new addition to the NAMIC-Southern California West Coast Creative Summit, which is part of the trade organization's signature conference series, focused on the content development aspects of television, film and other multimedia platforms.
