NEW YORK, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Oliver Sacks, neurologist, Columbia University professor and New York Times bestselling author, known for his neurological case studies in Awakenings, will share inspiring stories about the healing power of music for aphasics and others with brain trauma from his latest work: Musicophilia - Tales of Music and the Brain. Award-wining alternative musician and songwriter Marc Black, will perform, with the Marc Black Trio, music from his latest CD: Stroke of Genius, which was inspired by the poetry of a friend coping with aphasia after a stroke. They will appear at the Annual Spring Benefit of the National Aphasia Association (NAA) on Tuesday, April 1, 6 pm, at Comix, 353 West 14th Street, NYC. Proceeds will help support resources, education and services for people with aphasia and their families.

Dr. Roth holds senior-level positions at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), Northwestern University Medical School and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is the founder and former director of RIC's Center for Stroke Rehabilitation. A prolific author and frequent lecturer, Dr. Roth was named one of Chicago's Top Doctors, by Chicago Magazine, in 2007.
