Blind Tibetan Teenagers Featured in Award-Winning Film, 'Blindsight,' Unite with Students from Junior Blind of America to Share Life Experiences

'Blindsight,' Produced by Robson Entertainment, Releasing Nationally in March 2008 Tells the Story of Six Blind Tibetan Teens Climbing a 23,000 Ft Mountain in the Himalayas with Blind Climber Erik Weihenmayer

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Robson Entertainment and Junior Blind of America announced today that from February 11-21, blind teenagers featured in the award-winning documentary, "BLINDSIGHT" (opening March 2008) will travel to the United States for the first time to embark on a life-changing journey with blind students from Los Angeles.

The incredible true story of these heroic blind teenagers' climb of Lhakpa Ri continues with this visit to the States. The film's subjects have been given the opportunity to leave Tibet for the first time for this mini-tour, sponsored by Robson Entertainment and Junior Blind of America. The students will attend various events in Los Angeles and San Francisco, including: a Disneyland adventure, a Hollywood walking tour, a day at Universal Studios, a tour of Alcatraz Island and many more outdoor activities such as hang gliding and adaptive kayaking. Their American journey will continue with stops in Boston and New York.

Speaking of this significant collaboration, Junior Blind of America President and CEO, Miki Jordan, commented, "This has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these young adults to learn from each other and inspire each other, while continuing to break the barriers of vision loss."

Sybil Robson Orr of Robson Entertainment continues, "During the making of 'Blindsight,' I was astounded to hear of the bravery and courage of these teenagers. We are delighted, with the support of Junior Blind of America, to provide this opportunity to this fearless group."

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas, BLINDSIGHT follows the gripping adventure of six blind Tibetan teenagers who set out to climb the 23,000-foot Lhakpa Ri on the north side of Mount Everest. The dangerous journey soon becomes a seemingly impossible challenge -- made all the more remarkable because the teenagers are blind.

With guidance by Sabriye Tenberken (Nobel Peace Prize Nominee and Time Magazine Hero of The Year), a blind educator and adventurer who established the first and only school for the blind in Tibet, the students invited the famous blind mountain climber Erik Weihenmayer to visit their school after learning about his conquest of Everest. Erik arrived in Lhasa and inspired Sabriye and her students -- Kyila, Sonam Bhumtso, Tashi, Gyenshen, Dachung and Tenzin -- to let him lead them higher than they had ever been before. The resulting 3-week journey is beyond anything they could have predicted.
