Lifetime Networks and POLITICO Join Forces to Spotlight the Critical Role of Women in the Presidential Contest
- Lifetime/POLITICO Focus Groups to Offer Insights Into Undecided Women Voters Before They Vote in the Hotly Contested Super Tuesday Primaries -
NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Lifetime Networks and POLITICO announced that they are teaming up in the hotly contested 2008 presidential election to highlight a critical -- and the country's largest -- voting bloc: women.
Lifetime Networks includes Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network -- the #1 and #2 channels for women. POLITICO has the largest circulation of any Capitol Hill newspaper and is a Nielsen NetRatings "Top 30 Newspaper Web Site."
Lifetime and POLITICO are launching this partnership with a co-branded project in which focus groups of women in California will react to the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates during and immediately following the televised debates hosted by POLITICO, CNN and the Los Angeles Times -- the first one tonight, Jan. 30, and the second on Jan. 31.
On both nights, a diverse group of undecided women voters -- one voting in the Republican primary and one voting in the Democratic primary -- will join to watch the debates at a studio in Beverly Hills, and will respond to the candidates' performances and positions on key issues. The groups will be facilitated by renowned pollsters Kellyanne Conway of the polling company(TM) inc., and Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners.
In both written and video accounts on its website, http://www.politico.com/, POLITICO will report on the insights into the crucial women's vote gleaned from the focus group participants of all ages and backgrounds. Lifetime also will highlight the focus groups on its website, http://www.mylifetime.com/, and provide a forum for visitors online to discuss their feedback on the debates and the upcoming Super Tuesday primaries.
The joint effort with POLITICO is part of Lifetime's non-partisan and longtime interest in the presidential elections. Lifetime's award-winning Every Woman Counts campaign is now in its fifth presidential election cycle. The initiative includes extensive on-air programming, digital content and grassroots efforts to encourage more women to register and vote, run for elected office and speak out on the issues that matter most in their lives.
"We are thrilled to be joining forces with POLITICO, which has become in just one year a key, go-to political news source," said Meredith Wagner, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, Lifetime Networks. "This partnership will enrich the content we can offer to women to make them more informed and empowered voters throughout this election year."
"We are delighted to work with Lifetime, with its well-established understanding of the needs and concerns of women," said POLITICO Editor in Chief John Harris. "We welcome the opportunity to hear from Lifetime's viewers and readers in ways that can only enhance our reporting on the 2008 presidential election."
