ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ --
Who: The widely popular, award-winning Chicago Public Radio show,
"This American Life," is now a hit television show on the
Showtime Network. Host Ira Glass and company hit the road
collecting stories from everyday folks. Whether traveling to
Iowa pig farms, following a first-time filmmaker in California
or photographing a raucous night at an Illinois hot dog stand,
"This American Life" takes a captivating look at true stories
that are dramatic, emotional and often funny. All six compelling
episodes from the premiere season of the Emmy(R) nominated TV
show are available for the first time on DVD.
Ira Glass started working in public radio in 1978 as an intern
at National Public Radio's (NPR) Washington headquarters. Over
the course of the next 17 years, he worked on nearly every NPR
news show and nearly every production job available including
filling in every week or two on the program, "All Things
Considered." In November 1995, Glass launched "This American
Life" on Chicago's Public Radio. Today the radio program is on
more than 500 public radio stations across the country, and
Glass has been named best radio host in the country by "Time
Magazine."
