Hollywood Film Teams up With Kids to Eradicate Smoking
Goal is to create a generation of non-smokers
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The producers for the indie film, Spidey Girl, currently in pre-production, are on a nationwide search for a few kids to cast in the movie through an anti-smoking essay contest.
Three boys and/or girls ages 11-17 who can best describe in one paragraph what kids can do to discourage others from smoking will win a small speaking role, playing a young superhero.
"Kids can be very creative," says Rob Littman, producer. "We're not looking for experienced actors, we simply want kids who can think of clever ways to prevent youngsters from ever picking up the nasty habit."
Kids are encouraged to get their parents' permission before submitting a short essay through the entry form located at DogCatRadio.com, the radio station sponsoring the contest.
Spidey Girl, a film about a 13-year-old girl that sets out to stop criminals from selling cigarettes in her neighborhood, is due out in August of 2008.
"This movie tackles the issue of kids smoking," says Steve Burdeaux, spokesperson. "Hopefully this film, in some way, can help create a generation of non-smokers."
Winners will be notified on February 29, 2008 by phone and will be flown to Hollywood, CA to shoot their scene and dine with the crew on the famous Sunset strip. Winners will also receive a tour of Hollywood which includes complimentary movie tickets to historic Mann's Chinese theatre.
