NEW YORK, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Comedian John Oliver, best known for his work as a correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," will tape his all-new COMEDY CENTRAL stand-up special Wednesday, February 20 at the Peter Norton Symphony Space in New York City, located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, January 19 for both the early and late shows: 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. They are priced at $28.00 and will be available through www.symphonyspace.org or by calling 212-864-5400.

John Oliver was born and raised in England, in the year of punk, 1977. His passport lists his occupation as "comedian" and as everyone all knows, passports never lie. Before coming to New York City, he worked as a stand-up comedian around the UK entertaining and irritating audiences in equal measure for many years and regularly took shows to the prestigious Edinburgh Festival. When "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" came knocking at his door in 2006, Oliver flung it open and jumped into their arms with a relish which made all parties slightly uncomfortable. He is very pleased to have come to ply his trade in this country, as, to be honest, he had all but burnt his bridges in his own.
