NHCAA Presents CNBC and Kurtis Productions' Original Primetime Series 'American Greed' With 2007 Excellence in Public Awareness Award
Series Highlights Dark Side of the American Dream; Real Human and Economic Costs Associated with Health Care Fraud
ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA) is pleased to announce that CNBC and Kurtis Productions are the recipients of the 2007 Excellence in Public Awareness Award for their original primetime series, "American Greed." The award is being presented tomorrow, December 6, 2007, at the NHCAA Annual Training Conference in Anaheim, California. Over 1,000 fraud investigators from government and the private sector have joined together at the conference to hear public-private solutions to the $60 billion dollar health-care fraud crisis.
American Greed is an award-winning series exploring the dark side of the American dream by highlighting real life cases of health care fraud that lead to injury and -- in some cases even death -- in the pursuit of financial gain. American Greed also examines the impact fraud has had on the overall cost of the health care system nationwide and contributes to public awareness about the nature of health care fraud and its devastating effects.
"American Greed is a sobering reminder of the pain, suffering and costs associated with fraudulent health care practices," said NHCAA Executive Director Louis Saccoccio. "CNBC and Kurtis Productions are to be applauded for this important series and for raising public awareness of the human and economic costs associated with health care fraud. NHCAA and its member organizations remain committed to working with payers, providers, government agencies, the news media, and others to increase awareness, augment safety and improve quality for consumers nationwide."
