MassMutual Announces New Thought-Provoking PBS Series on Retirement

National TV program will explore financial challenges and solutions for the baby boomer generation

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- MassMutual Financial Group announced today the exclusive national sponsorship of a new two-hour national PBS documentary series that will take a deep and comprehensive look at the financial challenges facing the baby boomer generation. The documentary, Retirement Revolution, will air in April 2008 and be broadcast on PBS stations across the U.S. It is being sponsored by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual).

The documentary, produced by WTTW National Productions, a division of WTTW in Chicago, illustrates the origins of the retirement concept and how it has evolved over the past several decades. Retirement Revolution will offer practical considerations that can help prepare for a retirement on one's own terms. Everyday stories will be coupled with expert perspectives to help alleviate anxieties, inspire confidence and empower viewers to take control of their financial future.

"With this program, MassMutual and PBS share a similar goal: to help educate the millions of Americans approaching retirement by giving them the tools and insight needed to assess how to secure their own financial future," says Ian Sheridan, corporate vice president and chief marketing officer for the Retirement Services Division of MassMutual. "This sponsorship is a natural fit for MassMutual, as our financial professionals are committed to helping consumers prepare for various financial goals including retirement by listening to their needs, demystifying the process, and guiding them to the next steps in building a more secure financial future."

This sponsorship builds on MassMutual's long-held belief that consumers require varying degrees of financial assistance at different points in their lives. To that end, the company has embarked on a multi-faceted consumer education campaign designed to help consumers move beyond just thinking about their financial future and actually taking action to realize their financial goals. The company's tagline is "We'll Help You Get There."

Retirement Revolution will have a companion Web site that will enable visitors to view segments, support viewers' interest in taking the next steps in addressing their retirement issues and opportunities, and conduct their own financial research using online tools.

"Retirement is an extremely complex and fascinating issue that impacts each individual differently, and we are pleased that MassMutual shares our goal of providing much-needed education and insight," says Parke Richeson, WTTW's executive in charge of production. "This thorough, insightful and entertaining programming from WTTW National Productions and PBS will help baby boomers navigate and understand the financial maze and strives to give them a stronger foundation from which to build their future."
