Rocky Mountain News Celebrates Golden Wedding Anniversary

DENVER, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rocky Mountain News will hold its 60th annual Golden Wedding Anniversary party on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Held at the El Jebel Shrine Center, 4625 W. 50th Avenue and emceed by Rocky Mountain News columnist Dusty Saunders, this celebration recognizes 300 couples in the Denver metropolitan area that have been married fifty years or longer.

The event has been sold out for months with many couples on a waiting list. The event begins at 2:00 p.m. and each will receive a complimentary gift, wedding cake and punch. Couples will dance in jitterbug and swing contests to the big band sounds of the Dean Bushnell Orchestra. This year the "couple married the longest" is Mr. & Mrs. Donald Leeper. They have been married for 73 years. The couple will cut the commemorative anniversary cake.
