The Nielsen Company Names Greg Farrar President of Nielsen Business Media

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nielsen Company today announced that Greg Farrar, a 20-year Nielsen veteran, has been named President of Nielsen Business Media, effective immediately. Farrar will continue to report directly to David Calhoun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for The Nielsen Company.

Nielsen Business Media's brands include Adweek, Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter as well as the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Outdoor Retailer trade show.

Mr. Farrar, 46, was most recently Chief Operating Officer, Nielsen Business Media, and has been leading the division since former CEO Robert L. Krakoff died unexpectedly in March.

"Greg is a valued member of our leadership team and has been integral to the growth of Business Media over the last two decades," said Calhoun. "With his solid track record and proven ability to lead strong businesses and teams, I am confident that Greg will continue to build on this record of success."

In his role as President, Farrar is responsible for the direction, operations and growth of Nielsen Business Media and oversight of its management team. He will focus on the continued expansion of Nielsen Business Media's products and services and increasing the reach of the company's brands, especially into the digital arena.

Farrar was appointed COO of Nielsen Business Media in November 2006 and oversaw its daily management, including responsibility for international operations, licensing and multi-brand conferences. Over the last 20 years, he has held a number of roles with The Nielsen Company (formerly VNU) including President of the VNU Expositions group and Senior Vice President of Business Development for VNU Business Media. He played an integral role in the company's media and trade show acquisitions, successfully building Nielsen's exhibition business to be the market leader in the U.S. In addition, he was integral in the company's acquisition of Miller Freeman USA, a $200 million business media company consisting of 29 trade magazines and 56 trade shows and conferences. Before beginning his business media career in 1986, Farrar served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps.
